If California State Senator Carole Midgen gets her way, California residents will have the option to chose whether they consume products derived from cloned animals.
Senator Midgen introduced SB 63, requiring clear labeling of all products derived from cloned animals, in reaction to FDA’s issuing draft guidance on allowing meat and milk from cloned cows to be consumed by people with no special labeling required. FDA initiated a 90 comment period to recieve feedback on the guidance before it lifts the voluntary moratorium on cloned products.
